The 2010 STRATEGIES AND TOOLS FOR HELPING OTHERS FIND WORK joint conference is over, but it won’t be forgotten. The internationally renowned writer, trainer and keynote speaker, Denise Bissonnette opened the conference with a bang. This was followed by two sets of dynamic concurrent sessions. Charles Lehman from the New Mexico Career Development Association, one of the conference sponsors, reported to the President of NMC2E2, “The conference was a great success both program wise and financially. Over 100 (105) attendees from state and local governmental agencies, schools, colleges, and private sector attended. Attendees were predominantly from Albuquerque and Santa Fe, but several came from other communities. The evaluation rankings were outstanding for the agenda, speakers, food and information provided. Bissonnette was evaluated as excellent for both her sessions with comments such as ‘outstanding, brilliant, cannot wait to apply this in my work, finally understand what a job developer does, cannot wait to read her books’. Other sessions on green jobs, networking and employer needs also rated very high.” A big thank you goes out to all who helped make this conference a success. We look forward to the possibility of doing this again next year.

The current President, Marie Schumacher, is going to work hard this year to bring additional businesses into the consortium. She is challenging the members of NMC2E2 to contact the businesses that they work with and invite them to come to a quarterly meetings. Businesses that are interested in attending a consortium meeting may contact any member for information; however, if they do not have a relationship with any of the current members, Marie would welcome an email at schumacherma@sanjuancollege.edu or a call at 505-566-3212.
